Animation How a heart attack happens

A heart attack or myocardial infarction is caused due to coronary artery blockage.

Coronary arteries are the blood vessels which supply the heart with oxygen and nuitrition.

Overtime, the inside of these arteries develop fibro-fatty plaques of different sizes.

These plaques are made of choresterol and other substances floating through the blood
 
stream such as inflammatory cells, proteins and calsium.

Many of the plaque deposits are hard on the outside, and soft on the inside.

The hard surface can crack or tear, exposing the soft fatty inside. 

When this happens, platelets come to the area and blood clots form around the plaque.

The artery narrows farther and in turn there is less room for blood to flow

through the artery.

Finally this results in the occulsion of the coronary arteries, resulting in the death

of surrounding heart muscles.

The patient experiences tightness, heaviness, or constriction in the chest.

心臓発作、すなわち心筋梗塞は、冠動脈閉塞によって引き起こされる。

冠動脈は、心臓に酸素や栄養を供給する血管である。

時間を経て、この血管の内部にさまざまな大きさの、線維と脂肪に富んだプラ－クが形成される、

プラ－クは、血流を通して流れてくるコレステロールや、炎症性細胞、タンパク質、そしてカルシウム
といった物質から成っている。

多くのプラ－クは、外側は硬いが、中は柔らかい。

その硬い表面は破れたり、裂けやすく、柔らかい脂肪分に富む内部をさらす。

これが起きると、血小板が付着し、凝血塊がそのプラ－ク周囲に形成される。

これにより、動脈はさらに狭くなり、血液が流れる空隙が少なくなってしまう。

最終的に、冠動脈の閉塞が生じ、支配域の心筋が壊死する。

患者は、圧迫感、重圧感、そして胸部苦悶を訴える。
