When a body is working normally, the foods we eat containing proteins, fats and carbohydrates are boroken down into simpler easily absorbed nuitriance. One of the carbohydrates is said to form simple sugar-coat glucose. It is a main source of energy for the body cells. Glucose circulates in the blood where it is available for body cells to use. Glucose is a main source of fuel for muscles, heart, brain and other important organs. Insulin helps cells to take in glucose and convert it energy. Insulin is secreted by the pancreas. After it is secreted, insulin attaches itself to cells throughout the body and is placed on called insulin receptors. Once attached, insulin acts like a key of the cell membrane, luggage of sugar or glucose from the food you eat to enter the liver, fat and muscle cells. The glucose level in the blood stream is decreased, the less glucose is inside of the cell, and it becomes a source of energy. |
